Deep Ellum Brewing recently expanded their beer portfolio with a hard seltzer inspired by "Ranch Water," a popular West Texas cocktail. The challenge was pulling off an authentic West Texas-esque brand as a brewery based in Dallas.
By playing into Dallas' city slicker identity and obsession with patio pastimes, we created a brand that's honest, playful, and authentic to locals and throughout Texas. Introducing Ellum Ranch Patio Water – Ranch Water for City Slickers.
The brand's lettering is an "alphabet soup" of literal cattle brand symbols with a colorful vibrating can inspired by agave and West Texas heat. It's a show stopper on shelves and a stand-out in the brewery's beer and seltzer portfolio.
Rather than making fun of a city slicker's inadequacies, we took a more positive approach of living a city life with ranch dreams. We shot a short promo video showing an office worker deep in the buzz of everyday office life, but his mind is daydreaming of getting out under the big Texas sky and escaping the hustle.
