Deep Ellum Brewing recently expanded their portfolio with a hard seltzer inspired by Ranch Water, a popular West Texas cocktail with tequila and Topo Chico. The challenge was pulling off an authentic West Texas-inspired brand as a brewery based in Dallas. By playing into Dallas' city slicker identity and obsession with patio pastimes, we created a brand that's honest, playful, and authentic to locals and throughout Texas. Introducing Ellum Ranch Patio Water – Ranch Water for City Slickers.
The brand's lettering is an "alphabet soup" of ranch brands with a colorful vibrating can inspired by agave and West Texas heat. It's a show stopper on shelves and a stand-out in the brewery's beer and seltzer portfolio.
Rather than making fun of a city slicker's ranch life inadequacies, we chose to focus on living a city life with ranch dreams. We shot a short promo video showing an office worker deep in the buzz of everyday office life, but his mind is daydreaming of getting out under the big Texas sky and escaping the hustle.
